Homemaking and meals in Atlanta. The housework and the cooking, done properly.
The jobs that quietly stop getting done. A house that is clean and a fridge with real food in it do more for someone's independence than most people expect, and they are the first things to slip.

What a caregiver does
- Laundry, linens, dishes and light housekeeping
- Grocery shopping and putting it away
- Cooking, and sitting down so the meal actually gets eaten
- Low-salt, diabetic and soft-food diets when a doctor has asked for one
- Keeping floors and walkways clear of things people trip on
Who this suits
Someone managing well otherwise but losing ground on the house, and families driving across town to do a parent's washing.
The service families accept first
Homemaking is the easiest help to say yes to. Nobody feels diminished by someone else doing the laundry, which is exactly why it works as a starting point: it puts a reliable, screened person in the house twice a week without anyone having to admit that more is needed.
It is also what the VA's Homemaker and Home Health Aide program is named after. If there is military service in the family, this is the service most likely to be paid for rather than privately funded, and we will walk you through it.
What a clean house actually buys
Clear floors mean fewer falls. A fridge with real food in it means someone is eating. Mail that gets opened means bills get paid and a scam letter gets spotted. Families tend to think of housekeeping as cosmetic, and it is the opposite: it is the layer underneath everything else staying stable.
It is also how we notice change early. A caregiver who does the shopping every week is the first person to see that the same groceries are going uneaten.
The practical bits
- Minimum four hours per visit, with no minimum number of days a week.
- Care usually starts within 24 hours.
- A written plan with the hours, the tasks and the weekly cost before anything begins. See how it works.
- Nurse-owned, and licensed by the Georgia Department of Community Health as a Private Home Care Provider, permit PHCP010959.

Not sure what your parent actually needs?
That is the normal starting point. Describe the week and a care manager will tell you what would actually help, including if that is less than you think.

Homemaking and Meals: common questions
Is this just cleaning?
No. Light housekeeping is part of it, but so are the groceries, the cooking, the laundry and keeping the house safe to move around in. We are not a cleaning company and we do not do deep cleans, carpets or windows.
Will the VA pay for homemaking?
For a veteran enrolled in VA health care whose need has been assessed by a VA clinician, often yes. This office is credentialed through VA Community Care, so where the VA approves Homemaker and Home Health Aide hours it pays us directly. We cannot decide eligibility; the VA does.
Can the caregiver cook for a special diet?
Yes. Low-salt, diabetic and soft-food diets are routine. Bring the dietitian's or doctor's instructions to the home visit and we will write them into the care plan.
